Wedding Dress Guide
Measuring Guide
To create a dress that fits you perfectly, we will ask for a few measurements. The following guide will help you understand what we need in order to tailor your dress, and how you can take an accurate measurement. We suggest you take at least 2 measurements to ensure accuracy, and preferably use a professional tailor or someone to help you take these measurements.- Bust
- Measure across the back and the fullest part of your chest while wearing a bra (preferably the one you will wear with your dress).
- Waist
- While standing straight, bend to your side. This will help you find your natural waistline (about an inch above your belly button). Remain standing straight and using a measuring tape measure your natural waistline.
- Hip
- Standing with your feet together, measure at the fullest part of the hip.
- Hollow to Hem
- Measure from the center of the collarbone (hollow) to the dress hem. Note: The length is not measured starting from the garment neckline.
- Height with Heels
- Stand straight with your feet together and measure in bare feet. Begin at the top of the head and pull the measuring tape straight down to the floor.
- Shoulder to bust
- Measure the distance from the tip of your shoulder to your nipple. Your tape measure should follow the contour of your body.
- Shoulder to waist
- Measure from the tip of the shoulder to the wastline. This should be measured from the front, including the contour of the bust.
- Nipple to Nipple
- Measure the distance between your nipples
- Shoulder to shoulder
- Measure the width of your shoulder across the back using a measuring tape. Make sure you measure from the very end of the shoulder.
- Arm Hole
- Measure the girth of the arm joint by placing the tape from the tip of the shoulder to the arm pit.
- Sleeve length
- Measure from the seam of the shoulder to the cuff.
